Balmain Homme Spring Summer 2012: by Olivier Rousteing

With Olivier Rousteing replacing Christophe Decarnin as creative director of Balmain fans of the urban chic brand will be pleasantly surprised and relieved that the bad-boy brand is remaining true to the heritage of "motocross meets tailoring appeal" with rap shawl jackets and paneled biker jeans, the brand is making a statement that is "out of my way". i am thrilled to see this brands color range of pastel tees, scarves, and biker jeans in ice cream, lemon, mint, and orange. The python vest and alligator jacket are nothing but opulent well done Olivier and fashion veterans will undoubtedly argue that the student will be suppressing the teacher in years to come.

The street brand is amazing no buts about it, i love the retro early 1990's fashion a la Karl Kani mecca and Fubu. i almost expect to see or should i say love too see Gazelles , Kangol and Kufis. their designs remind me of the good days of black / pan african nationalism thats is greatly needed today. Agi studied Fashion Design at Manchester School of Art and Sam studied Illustration at University of Lincoln. While producing print for Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, J.W. Anderson, Armand Basi and Carolyn Massey, he learnt the theory of production, colour and fabric. Agi trained at a Soho based tailors, before spending a year with Alexander McQueen working alongside the menswear team. At McQueen, he learned primarily the importance of research, and the extent at which creativity can be explored. He then went on to work for himself briefly before setting up Agi & Sam.

autumn and winter: 2011 men's wear trends.

This year Jewel Tone Velvet Blazers are le modèle, from New York, London, Milan, Taipie to Japan the style savvy guapo's of the world will not be seen with out their Velvet, Amethyst, onyx, Ruby or Emerald Sports coats. some designers like Dries Van Norten and Dolce and Gabbana have taken the look to another level with ultra chic velvet suite sets.

1950's and 1960's americana is making a come back, this look does not follow the man's
silhouette in fact it as more of a draped cut and little to no structure most importantly no front darting resulting in a suit that is less V shaped often preferred by most men. Harris tweed, wool and herringbone are the fabric of choice while Forest green and plum bronze and coper tones aquamarine and dark sienna are the at the for front of the color pallet for the retro look this season.

Draping pour Homme

For years draping was exclusively for woman's wear but recently there is a new generation of designers rising up to the challenge the surge in draping in mens wear by designers such as Rick Owens, Songzio, Kevin Azzopardi and Clayton Evans are creating some pleasantly surprising takes on the iconic deconstructed look, and opening the door for a less constructed look in mens Apparel .
