New Now Next fashion: Mads Dinesen, Germany.

Mads Dinesen is a 28 year old Danish Fashion Designer living and working in Berlin. Mads Graduated from the Uiversity of the Arts - Berlin in 2010. Mads worked for several years as a dancer and performer before pursuing a career in fashion design. Mads showed his debut collection, "Pain is Felt by All...” , at Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week, with other students from Berlin University of Arts in 2010. mads' work has been sited as " evoking a raw and primal energy in the spectacular presentation of his collections but remains determinedly brut and current in relation to the environmental and socio-political nature of the world around us."(notjustalabel.com). his inspiration for "Pain is Felt by All...” is the colonial history of his home country Denmark. he tells KT of runwaypassport.com, about his experience researching for the collection "I was shocked to find out how much Denmark was involved in the international colonial business. Denmark had a big part in slave-trading; a fact I did not know about. Denmark had colonies spread out all over the world; Greenland, Iceland, Norway, India, Ghana, South America… to name a few. I tried in the collection to point out details of clothing, jewelry, textiles patterns and techniques from each culture, and put them together in a sort of typology of images. Through displacement and the lack of color, it is no longer possible to tell from what culture the details original is coming from. I have tried to mix it all up, and this created a new folklore costume with no national heritage." (runwaypassport.com)
